You can make a difference!
Pet Animal Lifeline (P.A.L) is a Non – Profit Organization, based on the WildCoast, in the Transkei Region of South Africa. Here, we have a driving need to provide a lifeline for rural and peri-urban pets, many of whom live in unbearable conditions.
With high levels of poverty, pets- mostly dogs are largely abandoned to fend for themselves. Devastating, inhumane treatment is common. With your support we can provide a lifeline for these innocent animals. Please take a moment and see below a few options to Take Action – You Can Make a Difference!

About
Pet Animal Lifeline
ABOUT
Pet Animal Lifeline was an idea I had in April 2021 while staying at Quora Mouth in the Transkei, at the end of my over-landing adventure through Southern Africa with my trusted Toyota FJ Cruiser and 4×4 trailer. I travelled 130 000kms through 10 countries in Southern Africa, I found the Transkei still to be the worst as far as dogs are concerned, many dead dogs on the road & all the dogs you come across, are starving with their noses to the ground looking for food. So instead of complaining about it, I decided to try and make a difference in their lives by starting P.A.L
The Transkei
WHERE WE WORK
We are based on The Wild Coast in the Transkei, Eastern Cape. A truly stunning part of South Africa, but with such intense human poverty in the Transkei many pets are left to fend for themselves.
We seek to improve these dogs/cats’ lives with basic interventions; to role-model care; and to educate on basic needs of pets i.e. supplying a bed with shelter, always having water available and to feed their pets!
The Team
WHAT WE DO
This non – profit organisation was started so we can respond to the driving need to provide a lifeline to the many neglected dogs & cats in these rural areas. Static clinics and Outreach programmes offer rabies vaccinations, deworming, tick and flea treatments plus treatments for many other ailments. In doing this we make dogs/cats healthier and more virile, which will give us an overpopulation problem. At the moment we do not have an overpopulation issue, we have an over breeding issue. 90% of all puppies die in their first year, as per studies by Onderstepoort University.
Oscar Willemsen
Oscar arrived in the Transkei with one pup… Nuni, which he rescued in Swaziland but now, he has a pack of 8, made up of rescues, foster dogs, dogs that found him and also won’t leave him and who can blame them, knowing that their lives had previously been traumatic and they have now found a haven of love
Oscar has always had a deep love and connection to dogs and through COVID and another trip to the Transkei, Pet Animal Lifeline was born. For him it is a passion and it has also given him a purpose and fulfillment by being able to help pet animals in need.
